GMail has to be the nation's favourite online email provider. Despite its dreadful interface it has an excellent SPAM blocker and is the entry point into Google Accounts which are increasing a central part of android phones and other devices syncing of email.
Interestingly I often use my Gmail account to send very large files which OutLook would block.
